Activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) checks whether the clotting mechanism in your body is working properly. It checks functioning of coagulation factors & pathways. Prolonged APTT can be caused by acquired or congenital deficiency of coagulation factors, heparin anticoagulant therapy & due to some coagulation inhibitory factors.
