Culture is a technique to identify the cause of infection in your body. This test identifies the anaerobic organisms that do not require oxygen for their survival, commonly causing infection in blood. This test is recommended for patients with poor immunity; patient is not responding to regular treatment; very sick patient; source of infection cannot be identified. Septicemia occurs when bacteria enter the blood stream as often seen in patients who are hospitalised. This is a rapid automated culture which can identify organisms faster and with increased sensitivity. This test does not include the list of medicines to be prescribed.
