CALCITONIN
Calcitonin is a tumor marker for a type of cancer of the thyroid gland namely Medullary thyroid cancer. Serial testing helps in early detection of spread or recurrence of thyroid cancer. It should not be used as a screening test for the population because many other conditions also increase the Calcitonin levels in blood.
