Tuberculosis is a potentially serious infection which mainly affects your lungs but it can also involve every organ in your body. It is usually caused by the typical TB bacteria (Acid fast bacilli) or sometimes by atypical TB bacteria. This test identifies the presence of these bacteria in your sputum & other organs. It confirms the diagnosis and also helps in follow up.
